The Vedas – Eternal Source of Divine Wisdom

 The Vedas are the most ancient and sacredscriptures of Sanatana Dharma, guiding life through spiritual knowledge andritual purity. There are four Vedas:

 Rigveda – Hymns and praises to deities  

Yajurveda – Rituals and sacrificialformulas  

Samaveda – Melodic chants and spiritualmusic

Details of theFour Vedas

 1. Rigveda 

The oldestVeda, composed of over 1,000 hymns (suktas) in praise of various deities likeAgni, Indra, and Varuna.

Used in:Recitations and basic structure for other Vedic rituals.

 2. Yajurveda  

A manual forrituals and yajnas (sacrifices).

 3. Samaveda  

Known as theVeda of chants.  

Mostly derivedfrom the Rigveda, but focused on musical rendition.  

Foundation forIndian classical music and used in soma sacrifices.

 4. Adharvaveda  

Practical andmystical knowledge including mantras for healing, protection, peace, andprosperity.  

Includes earlyreferences to Ayurveda and tantric practices.

Importanceof the Vedas

They arethe root texts of Sanatana Dharma (Hinduism).

Source of Vedicrituals, astrology, Ayurveda, and other branches of knowledge.

Influencedlater Indian philosophies like Vedanta, Yoga, Nyaya, and Mimamsa.

Vedas are notauthored by humans—they are considered apauruṣeya (not of humanorigin).

Ṛta (CosmicOrder): The law or order that governs everything inthe universe.
